Healthy Weight Loss
Achieving healthy weight loss requires some thought, effort and planning, however the rewards are well worth it! Most people who have weight to lose need to do it gradually. Safe and healthy weight loss isn’t achieved overnight with crash or fad diets. Its achieved with a steady weight loss of about one pound per week and certainly never more than two pounds a week. There are of course those people who have serious health problems caused by their obesity and it may be okay for them to lose weight quickly. However they need to be sure that this is medically supervised. Your current weight and health is the result of several factors: • The type of foods you eat and the quantity. • The amount of regular exercise that you take. • If food is used as comfort or a way to handle things that are going on in your life. • Your age and work commitments. Successful weight loss needs to take into consideration all of these factors. This is why you need to stear clear of any products and weight programs that promise you quick and easy results. Also you need to avoid the ones that promise permanent results but they don’t require permanent changes to your lifestyle. Whenever you see ads that say you can lose weight without reducing your calorie intake and/or increasing your physical exercise levels is selling you a dream and false hope. In addition some of these products may be unsafe and the long term effects on your health and weight may be detrimental. To achieve healthy weight loss you need to take a realistic approach. One of the best ways to achieve a healthy weight loss for yourself is by deciding not to go on a ‘diet’, but instead to focus on taking more and regular exercise, and by choosing healthier eating habits. These healthier habits include lowering your intake of saturated fats, and increasing the amount of vegetables, fruits and whole grains that you eat. For many people who are overweight or obese, long-term — and healthy — weight management generally requires sensible goals and a commitment to make realistic changes in their lifestyle and improve their health. A lifestyle based on healthy eating and regular physical activity can be a real lifesaver.
