How To Lose Weight With The Right Kind of Motivation True weight loss happens when you have the right kind of motivation. What does this mean exactly? Well, I suggest that you start by considering the reasons you want to lose weight. Is there a wedding, graduation or special event that you want to look good for? Do you want tofeel good about how you look and increase your chances of meeting that special person for a relationship? Are you simply wanting to feel healthier and better about yourself? I encourage you to go ahead and make a list of all the reasons you have for wanting to lose weight. After you’ve done this, put the list away for a couple of days, then take it out and and review it again. You need to be honest with yourself and think about which of your reasons do you think will actually help and motivate you to lose weight? This means, which of these reasons will give you the long-term motivation that’s needed. If all of your reasons for losing weight are connected with looking good for a special occasion, chances are you will find it difficult to sustain long-term weight loss. This is because your motivation for doing this is only short-term. The most successful weight loss occurs as a result of you making a personal commitment to a lifetime of healthy habits. How To Lose Weight: Building a Lifetime of Healthy Habits So if the latest fad diet or pill isn’t going to help you achieve the permanent weight loss you desire, then what can help you? The truth is that only learning about and putting into practice the healthy habits required will allow you to achieve permanent weight loss. The two most critical healthy habits to establish are with your choices of food and the physical activities you participate in. Here are some suggestion for establishing healthy habits. 1. Eat a variety of fruits every day. Aim for 5 pieces of fruit which will help to fill you up and keep you healthy. Ideally you need to choose a variety of colors so that you get all the nutrients you need. 2. Eat more foods rich in calcium. Studies have shown that foods rich in calcium can help you achieve permanent weight loss. 3. Focus on whole grains. Choose brown instead of white, such as whole wheat rather than white bread. 4. Eat lean proteins. Protein is an important part of eating healthily. Ensure that you mainly choose lean proteins like white meat, fish, beans, and nuts. Avoid red meat as much as possible. 5. Limit your saturated fat intake. Not all fats are bad for you. Almonds, for instance, although they’re high in fat, its actually a fat that is good for your heart. Its saturated fats that are the real problem. Aim to consume less than 10 percent of your calories from saturated fats. As for physical activities, here are a few ideas for getting active after years of inactivity that can easily fit into your normal day. 1. If you have dog, commit to spend at least fifteen minutes playing with your pet each day. This may involve taking your dog for a walk, or playing catch. This is an easy way to increase your activity levels while giving your pet the attention it deserves. 2. Take the stairs whenever possible. Simply avoiding the elevator can give your body a reasonably good workout. 3. Go for a brisk walk during your lunch break. If you're like most people, you probably don't have a lot of time each day for a full workout. So, get your body moving each day during your lunch hour.
